Health and Nutrition

What we put into our bodies. That is how I want to love my God.  Loving my body and loving my families bodies. I am having lots of fun discovering new ways to eat healthier.  I am a no nonsense cook.  I like to use herbs and I don't like to cook with tons of ingredients because it gets expensive.  What I can say is that I have discovered it isn't about money.  People always say to me that it is too expensive to eat healthy.  Do you know how much it costs to eat process food?? Lots more.  Combine that with refined sugars etc and not only are your pockets empty but you are STILL hungry because really.....bad food doesn't fill you!  I am about moderation and I am not opposed to treats.  I love treats.  And I love chocolate. I have a few cookie monsters in my house too.

I hope you enjoy the recipes I post here.  Feel free to leave comments! I love input on food lol.

First one is a smoothie.  I have a hard time getting my little one to even try a veggie.

Healthy smoothie - blueberry or any berry really

1 banana
3/4 cup blueberries (frozen if out of season)
1 or 2 large kale leaves
1/2 cup of plain yogurt
1 tbsp ground flax seed (you can omit this for the little ones if they can tell!)
A few chunks of frozen mangoes

Toss everything in and blend until you’ve reached your desired consistency.  I like a thick smoothie, so just a few pulses and blend on a low setting for approximately 10 seconds.

The Green Peace GMO guide is so helpful!  I came across it today.  This is the Canadian one but I am sure there is a USA version.  Helps when shopping.
