Catholic Womens Almanac

I am going to think of the Catholic Womens Almanac as meditation.  Meditation on thanking our Lord.

I am

Thankful for:
-no sickness....it is finally gone after 4 plus weeks of it in my home!
-a very understanding spouse through some tough appointments
-healthy food and recipes, we are having fun trying new foods
-smoothies so I can get my son to eat veggies, it is a bit sneaky yes but it is for his own two year old good!
-new commitment to lent, i am certain this one is an eye opener for me in my faith
-the energy to commit to my home organization

Listening to:
-Liam chew lol
-Thomas the train...over and over.....my little guy LOVES trains.
- the wind....this snow is getting too much!

Pondering:
I was pondering beauty but Jenny has got me thinking about social media and how I am using these tools.  Elizabeth Foss also posted something about this...hmmmm hhmmmm?? trying to tell me something Lord?? ;)
The word i need is BALANCE.

Pondering and Creative kind of go together:
Yesterday I read a wonderful article written by a 19 year old on beauty.  I should share it.  It was from The Catholic Register.  There needs to be more articles like this reminding us that everything we love is a reflection of a piece of God....if we really look at these things...we will understand how beautiful our Lord is and that after all that we are made in His image!

Contemplating this yesterday while sewing a country style placemat (I have 3 left to sew) and knitting. Knitting is my meditation.  I pray so much as I knit.

Nothing Captured this week in photos.  I am terrible for taking photos.  I am going to try to capture a few this week, especially since my son is turning 2 on Saturday! Toddler....oh babies grow so fast!

Cooking:
Oh I am so excited about my organic food box deliveries.  I am also pondering how we treat our bodies and as the Lords temple what I put into my family.  I also found East Coast organic milk.  I am trying on a limited budget.  Just because I am limited doesn't mean with a little creativity I cannot make a healthy life for my family.  I am really reducing refined sugars and adding fresh food.  I am trying to make fresh 75% of the groceries. I hope to share some recipes and creativity on here.

Have a blessed week sisters!

  1. I hope you do share here! I love learning new healthy recipes...have to work on my picky 8 year old though : )

It is great to see you posting...have missed them.

    Have blessed days this week.

  2. I so want to learn how to knit, again. I have never been very good at it; I think that's why I keep forgetting how to do it.

    1. i am convinced it is how you are taught. for instance there are some cast on methods that do not work at all for me. I had to find my own comfort.

  3. If you would share those veg. smoothie recipes, I would be so grateful. My 7 year old will barely touch a vegetable of any variety.

I am seeking balance, too. My beautiful, in-real-life, churchgoing friends do not necessarily try to practice every aspect of our Catholic faith, and it is much easier to find like-minded women online. But I don't want to retreat into the virtual world at the expense of personal relationships. It's a challenge!

  5. Social media is SUCH a challenge, especially for us moms who don't get out much! I guess I should try simply scheduling it into my day but it's SO hard to stick to it!

  6. Thomas the Train. The days when that was ALL that I heard! I was just thinking about how we haven't heard or seen Thomas in oh so long. Now it is Star Wars and superheros. I kind of miss the train days.

  7. Samantha, I love how you prefaced your entries by saying you're thinking of CWA as a meditation on thankfulness. +

  8. I like everybody else ponder social media all the time. It's a hard balance. Like the other ladies...I have few devout Catholic women friends. We are all busy doing our vocations and can only meet once in awhile. But sneaking small amounts of time online is soul feeding. It's just a matter of self discipline for me in really sticking to the small amounts of time. :)

Oh the babies grow quickly....we have been huge Thomas fans. My six year old boy isn't as into it anymore and when I read that it instantly brought back memories. :)
